In our school days, Sridevi was the undisputed heroine !! – real beauty queen !!  Women like ornaments – they buy costly bangles, chains, bracelets, necklaces, ear-rings and nose-rings !  .. .. how would you plan to spend your hard earned Bonus ! after appraisal !!

 

Saturday, the 2^nd match of IPL 2023 was very interesting.  For most of the contest, Kolkata Knight Riders were behind the run of play against Punjab Kings. 

Chasing 192, they were 80 for 5, with victory looking like a bleak possibility.  Then came Andre Russell and Venkatesh Iyer  partnership that appeared to take them ahead in the match for the first time. Russell's six and four off Sam Curran brought the equation down to 62 needed from 32 with the balance of power shifting. It also brought Knight Riders closer to the DLS target with rain hovering around Mohali.  .. then it rained and KKR a bit short of the target !

 

Not a post on the IPL match but more on the ear-ring and nose-ring seen this day! Many cricketers including Shikhar Dhawan wear nice ear-studs ! At 6ft 1in tall, stacked with power, and possessing a swaggering presence enhanced by a mohawk haircut and a nose ring,   the man known as 'Dre Russ' – steals the show (Andre Russel) bemusing looks and power hits that sends the leather out of the ground !

மூக்குத்திக்கு அறிமுகம் தேவையில்லை !!  மூக்குத்தி  (Nose-jewel ) என்பது மூக்கில் துளையிட்டு அணியும் நகை. . இப்போது, துளையிடாமலே அணியக் கூடிய மூக்குத்திகளும் கிடைக்கின்றன. பெரும்பாலும்!  பெண்களே மூக்குத்தி அணிகிறார்கள் !!  மூக்குத்தி உள்ளிட்ட மூக்கணிகள் தங்கத்திலேயே செய்யப்படுகின்றன. வெள்ளி, பித்தளையும் பயன்படுவதுண்டு.

As one ogled Russel, came this man on mike in the next match batting for Delhi Capital - a middle-order batter who bowls occasional medium pace, Rovman Powell has been a semi-regular presence in West Indies' white-ball squads from the mid-2010s without quite nailing down a spot.  Powell's maiden ODI hundred, against Ireland in 2018, helped West Indies to a crucial win in the World Cup qualifier, and he captained a weakened side in Bangladesh later that year, but was left out of the squad for the World Cup itself, in 2019.  He was seen wearing a nice ear ring.  

Elsewhere read that about an year ago,  ace driver Lewis Hamilton was  on collision course with his  new FIA race boss, who wanted to ban his jewellery. Niels Wittich, who had replaced axed race director Michael Masi after he failed to follow the rules in the final race of last season, took  the unusual step of reminding drivers they cannot wear jewellery when they race. Writing in the event notes for this weekend's Australian GP in Melbourne, the German  reminded drivers of the sporting code. He said: "The wearing of jewellery in the form of body piercing or metal neck chains is prohibited during the competition & may therefore be checked before the start."  

The FIA were adamant that the move was not targeting  any particular driver - although Hamilton  raced with a nose piercing, while others also wear rings and bracelets.  It reportedly, is a safety measure in racing !
