MI bowled well; batted well ~ still lost - who is to blame ?

For some life is always easy… for some … read this post on ‘train journey in search of water’…

You encounter this in Office and in life too…. Things happen well, you see lot of people exerting themselves.. everything right but not the end result… which goes awry… who is to blame.. sure not the tools or the executioners but the planners………Yesterday, immediately after the innings of RCB, I had posted about Gayle standing tall and alone and setting an attainable target of 157.

MI opened with two legends ~ Sachin Tendulkar and Ricky Ponting and went about  methodically – things looked as though it would be an eash target.  RCB had Jayadev Unadkat, Dan Christian, Vinay Kumar, Muralitharan and Murali Kartik………. Result appeared very predictable…… an MI win was not to be….. they fell by 2 runs – score card will never give you any real idea of what happened

Ponting made 28 off 33; Sachin 23 off 19; Dinesh Karthik promoted played a gem 60 off 37; Rohit 11/11; Ambati Rayudu 18/18 – the big hitting Kieron Pollard 5/2……. Then why and how did MI lose ?

After 16, MI were 106/3 – 51 required off 24 – looks pretty tough, though they have wickets in hand.  17th over bowled by Dan Christian – 0-0-6-6-6-4(nb)-1;  – Karthik almost changed the complexion, hitting 24.  Dinesh was not done yet, the first ball of Muralitharan went for another 6. S0 17 required of 12. Jayadev Unadkat bowled a decent over giving 7 runs and it boiled down to 10 off 6.

Vinaykumar came on to bowl – 2nd ball Dinesh out; 3rd Rayudu bowled.  The big man Kieron Pollard came to the crease after Dinesh got out, got to face the last two – 8 required; off the 5th  smashed straight for a 4; 4 off last ball – Vinay bowled a Yorker – denied the four and RCB won……

Mumbai Indians – Nita Ambani has spent lot, was there with the team. MI has John Wright has the Coach; Anil Kumble is the mentor; the experienced Ricky Ponting is the coach……. And you have loads of men equipped with modern gadgets…..

A million bought Glenn Maxwell is not even part of the strategy… why pay for him…. Kieron Pollard is regarded as the cleanest hitter and he gets two deliveries to showcase…… What planning and what strategy ?

With regards – S. Sampathkumar.
