SYMA Growth Pooja 2024

Today – Sunday, 19^th Feb 2024 is a day of significance for SYMA.   Education is the only thing that can change the lives of children coming from lower echelons of society.  We firmly believe that only quality education can improve them and ensure their moving to a higher echelon.

ஒருவனுக்கு இழிவு இல்லாத சீரிய செல்வமாவது கல்வி, அஃது ஒழிந்த மணியும் பொன்னும் முதலாயின செல்வமல்ல. மற்றப் பொருட் செல்வங்களெல்லாம் இயற்கையாலுஞ் செயற்கையாலும் அழிந்துபோந்தன்மையனவாதலின் சிறந்த செல்வங்களாகா. கல்வியின் கேடின்மையை, "வெள்ளத்தாற் போகாது வெந்தழலால் வேகாது வேந்தராலும் கொள்ளத்தான் முடியாது கொடுத்தாலும் நிறைவொழியக் குறைபடாது கள்ளர்க்கோ மிகவரிது காவலோ மிகவெளிது கல்வியெனும் உள்ளத்தே பொருளிருக்க உலகெல்லாம் பொருள்தேடி உழல்வதேனோ" என்னும் பழந்தனியனால் அறிக. 

 

SYMA has an unsaturated desire for serving the Society. SYMA [Srinivas Youngmen’s Association]  has been in the field of Social service since 1977.  Education is the most important thing in life – it will give Worldly pleasures  and give pleasure to the world too; it will not diminish by giving; it will spread the fame of those possessing it; cannot be destroyed… there is no better medicine  than Education that can cure all ills.   At SYMA, we realize that  Education can refine a person and ensure one’s success in life.   We at SYMA, feel strongly the primary responsibility  of improving the Society and helping the underprivileged.  

6th July 2008 was indeed a very auspicious day ~ for on that day Mr. R Sekar, IPS, Commissioner of Police launched our Tuition Centre ‘Growth’  and a right beginning was made.  Every year since, we have been tasting grand success with very good results.   SYMA Growth – a fullfledged tuition centre, is our  cherished initiative in educating the economically poor children, uplifting their standards and making them responsible citizens, by providing quality educational support throughout the year free.    In this beautiful World, most students are frightened to face the Public examinations.  SYMA’s vision is  to provide good quality education training free of cost  for those students who suffer for want of opportunities.  

The tuition activities for the present Education year 2023-24 concludes today with a special Pooja.  Around 90 students (X Standard and +2 Science & Commerce groups) studied in our Centre this year.  This morning we organized a pooja at our Educational centre functioning at NKT Boys High School.  Sri Parthasarathi Swami Thirukkoyil chinnamurai battar Sri Srinivasan swami conducted the pooja for the welfare of the students and SYMA.  This evening we are organizing some fun-filled activities and give a send-off to our dear students with some gifts, lots of courage and grit to do well in their examinations.  

Wishing all our students – “All the very best” in the upcoming Public examinations and in their career too.  

The success of SYMA Growth in uplifting the students from lower echelons of society is fully because of the untiring efforts of teachers of SYMA Growth. SYMA places on record our profound thanks  to the Management of NK Thirumalachariyar National Boys High School,    our beloved teachers of SYMA Growth,  Principal of Growth, Coordinator  and all of YOU  who had supported SYMA in all its endeavours.  

After the pooja there was a session with the parents.  It was indeed gratifying and happy to hear some of them praising SYMA for the efforts, providing a very positive feedback that the attitude, patience, discipline and knowledge of their wards had changed immensely and they now feel very confident and happy about their wards. Nice encouraging words ensuring that we are walking on the right path on our chosen goals.

ISRO successfully launches - GSLV-F14/INSAT-3DS

Another great day for the Nation – this evening,  the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully launched ‘naughtyboy’ -  Insat-3DS, a third-generation weather satellite that will augment meteorological services and improve the accuracy of weather forecasts in the country.  GSLV-F14 carrying Insat-3DS lifted off from the second launch pad at Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota at 5.35pm.

 

Around 18 minutes after liftoff, the three-stage rocket placed the weather satellite in a 253km geosynchronous transfer orbit. ISRO  chairman S Somanath said the launch vehicle had achieved a very good orbit. “The success of GSLV has given us the confidence to accomplish the NISAR (NASA-ISRO SAR) launch which is our next mission.” Insat-3DS satellite is a follow-on mission of a third generation meteorological satellite from geostationary orbit. The satellite will augment the meteorological services along with the presently operational Insat-3D and Insat-3DR in-orbit satellites. 

The launch of the GSLV-F14/INSAT-3DS mission is accomplished today, Saturday, February 17, 2024, at 17:35 Hrs. IST from SDSC-SHAR, Sriharikota. In its 16th mission, the GSLV aims at deploying the INSAT-3DS meteorological satellite into the Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO). Subsequent orbit-raising maneuvers will ensure that the satellite is positioned in a Geo-stationary Orbit. 

Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) is a three-stage 51.7 m long launch vehicle having a liftoff mass of 420 tonnes. The first stage (GS1) comprises a solid propellant (S139) motor having 139-ton propellant and four earth-storable propellant stages (L40) strapons which carry 40 tons of liquid propellant in each. The second stage (GS2) is also an earth-storable propellant stage loaded with 40-ton propellant. The third stage (GS3) is a cryogenic stage with a 15-ton propellant loading of liquid oxygen (LOX) and liquid hydrogen (LH2). 

During the atmospheric regime, the Satellite is protected by Ogive payload fairing. GSLV can be used to launch a variety of spacecraft capable of performing communications, navigation, earth resource surveys, and any other proprietary mission. 

INSAT-3DS Satellite is a follow-on mission of Third Generation Meteorological Satellite from Geostationary Orbit. GSLV-F14/INSAT-3DS mission is fully funded by the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES). It is designed for enhanced meteorological observations and monitoring of land and ocean surfaces for weather forecasting and disaster warning. The satellite will augment the Meteorological services along with the presently operational INSAT-3D and INSAT-3DR satellites. Indian Industries have significantly contributed to the making of the Satellite. 

Officials said the payloads would generate major geophysical parameters like sea and land surface temperatures, cloud properties, fog, rainfall, snow cover, snow depth, fire, smoke, aerosol, water vapour wind, upper tropospheric humidity, humidity profile and total ozone to study about atmosphere, land and ocean.  The data from the satellite would be used by various departments of ministry of earth sciences, including India Meteorology Department, National Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasting, Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) and Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS), to provide improved weather forecasts and meteorological services. The ministry of earth sciences has funded the launch. 

The Geosynchronous Launch Vehicle (GSLV)  carried the  crucial mission for the rocket nicknamed “naughty boy” for its spotty record.   The mission’s success is  crucial for the GSLV, which is scheduled to carry later this year the Earth observation satellite, NISAR, which is being jointly developed by NASA and ISRO.  At least four of the 15 launches using the GSLV so far have been unsuccessful. In comparison, only three of the 60 missions so far by ISRO’s workhorse PSLV (Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle), and none of the seven by its successor LVM-3, have failed

It is a continuing success story for the Nation -    ISRO  has completed more than  50 launches from the Satellite Launching Station in Sriharikota Range.  Situated on an island off Sullurupeta - a small town in Nellore district, of the state Andhra Pradesh the launch centre located at Sriharikota, was named as Satish Dhawan Space Centre, SHAR in September 2002, in memory of Professor Satish Dhawan, who was Chairman of ISRO from 1972 to 1984.

Statutory of Mynahs - ஒரு மைனா மைனா குருவி மனசார பாடுது

It is a standard template in tinseldom – Hero portrayed as poor, protector of poor but is actually is a rich man !  

In 1990s  Rajnikant was seen as a saviour who would jump into politics  and protect the State – some even say that he had a great chance in 1996 – but his formula has been simple, create hype, act, make money, chase more money.  In this movie, Rajni is a collie in a factory – a hard worker ! – he is masquadered by villains to act in the place of a foreign returned rich peron.  Rajini acts but wants to run away knowing the truth – later he discovers that he is the actual heir to the vast property !! his father had been killed by those 3 brothers – and .. ..  he avenges ! – then he says he is happy living as a coolie and foregoes all wealth !!

 

Not any post on Cinema but a song from that movie that is the subject matter of this post – the Mynah bird – have never seen so many of them flying together !! 

Away from the concrete jungles of madness, the spring, the dawn chorus sounds different. In the dark hours before sunrise, little birds  whistles, chips, hoots, and trills with deafening birdsongs.  We know and can identify Vultures, Crows, Pigeons, Parrots, Mynahs, Woodpeckers, Kingfishers, Cranes and the like -  boisterous and energetic than in past years, all singing raucously at the same time, like a poetry slam where everyone’s reading at once. Birds fly, fish swim – the  age at which birds fledge, or begin to fly, varies widely from species to species. Without knowing species, it is impossible to say how long it will take a bird to fly after hatching. Within species, the capability generally develops within a short window common to all young.   

In 1760 the French zoologist Mathurin Jacques Brisson included a description of the common myna in his Ornithology based on a specimen that he mistakenly believed had been collected in the Philippines. He used the French name Le merle des Philippines and the Latin Merula Philippensis.  Although Brisson coined Latin names, these do not conform to the binominal system and are not recognised by the International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature.  When in 1766 the Swedish naturalist Carl Linnaeus updated his Systema Naturae for the twelfth edition, he added 240 species that had been previously described by Brisson.  One of these was the common mynah.  

The myna  is a bird of the starling family (Sturnidae). This is a group of passerine birds which are native to southern Asia, especially India, Pakistan & Bangladesh. They have been introduced into many countries and in Australia,  the common myna which is  regarded as an invasive species.   An omnivorous open woodland bird with a strong territorial instinct, the myna has adapted extremely well to urban environments. The range of the common myna is increasing at such a rapid rate that in 2000 the IUCN Species Survival Commission declared it one of the world's most invasive species.  

Common mynas are believed to pair for life. They breed through much of the year depending on the location, building their nest in a hole in a tree or wall. They breed from sea-level to 3000 m in the Himalayas.

Nation is proud of Ash magical milestone of 500 Test wickets !!

By looks, we consider, we feel some are very intelligent – our favourite writer Srirangam Rangarajan (Sujatha) was one .. .. Cricketer S Venkatraghavan resembled him not only in looks but in wisdom too.  .. .. and Ashwin stands tall there !

 

Albert Einstein is a name that is  always considered synonymous with intelligence. Einstein was a Theoretical Physicist who is considered to be the greatest physicist in the world. People at the time were so impressed and obsessed with his mind that after his death, Thomas Harvey made 170 pieces of his brain and sent it to different scientists for research.  Einstein   certainly was  one of the greatest scientists of all time. In terms of mathematical ability, Einstein perhaps would not come close to matching today’s leading physicists like Stephen Hawking.  The depth and range of his achievements are not without precedent, either. Far less well-known scientists such as Carl Gauss and Leonhard Euler made fundamental contributions in many more fields. The person with perhaps the strongest claim to being the smartest person of all time is the Victorian polymath Sir Francis Galton, whose work on everything from statistics and evolution to the ‘wisdom of crowds’ is still used every day by researchers a century after his death. 

13 years ago ! – it  was over 32.5 Ashwin in his debut match hit the timber – Darren Bravo the  victim – the 1st Test against West Indies at Kotla, Delhi on Nov 6, 2011   - India won by 5 wickets -  not many would have imagined of the heights the Man of the match would accomplish !!  

In that test debutant Ravichandran Ashwin became only the third Indian  player (after Pravin Amre and RP Singh) to win the Man of the Match award on debut. (Before 1990, this award wasn't declared for all matches.)   Today at Rajkot, Ravichandran Ashwin climbed newer heights setting up   Zak Crawley registered himself into the record books, becoming his 500^th victim.

Cricinfo reports that - when asked what had not not changed, he said it was his "desire to excel".  All through his career, Ashwin's critics have tended to view his constant experimentation as a sign of overthinking the game, and he spoke of having had to fight that perception. "I'm really happy where I am in life. Forget it as just being in cricket. [I get told] that you 'intellectualise bowling', or whatever.   

In 147 years of Test cricket only eight bowlers had reached the 500-wicket landmark, but with R Ashwin there was a sense of inevitability that he would get there, long before he actually dismissed Zak Crawley for wicket number 500. The fact that he is the second-fastest to achieve the milestone - in terms of matches and deliveries - demonstrates just how successful a career he has had.  

Today at Rajkot Ravichandran Ashwin became the ninth man, the second Indian, to reach the landmark of 500 Test wickets. He is  the second-fastest bowler to achieve the feat, getting there in his 98th Test.  "I would like to dedicate this to my father, he's responsible for everything I've done in my life. He's lived it through, had heart attacks every time I've played. I think his health has gone for a toss because he's watched games of mine on TV and been a constant support for me," Ashwin said in an interview with the host broadcaster at the end of the day's play. "  

The aspect of Ashwin's career that stands out more than any other is obviously his record at home: 347 wickets in 58 Tests at an average of 21.22. Three more wickets will make him just the fifth bowler to take 350 home wickets, after Muttiah Muralidaran, James Anderson, Stuart Broad and Anil Kumble. In terms of averages too, he is bunched together with the very best.  There have been so many series-defining performances by Ashwin in his 12-year career that he has won a staggering 10 Man-of-the-Series awards; only Muralidaran, with 11, has done better.  

Ashwin has opened the bowling 50 times in Test cricket !! - 45 times in Asia, a couple of times each in England and Australia, and once in South Africa. In these 50 innings, he has taken 165 wickets at an average of 19.36, and a strike rate of 41 balls per wicket. The only other spinner with 100-plus wickets when opening the bowling in Test history is Sri Lanka's Rangana Herath.  Another statistics in another Cric web reveals -  25714 - balls taken by Ashwin to complete 500 wickets in Tests, making him the second-fastest to the mark after Glenn McGrath. The former Australia quick had got there of his 25528th ball in the format, dismissing Marcus Trescothick on an action-packed Day 1 of the Ashes 2005 opener at Lord's.  

"The desire to excel hasn't changed, wanting to keep on evolving as a cricketer, that's something that's been organic to me right from my club cricket days in Chennai,"  Ashwin  said. "  Ashwin  sadly who has not been the blue-eyed boy of many Captains and management, identified the period from 2018 to 2019, when he lost his place in the Indian team away from home, as the most challenging phase of his career, describing it as a "bottomless pit" before the Covid-19 pandemic gave him perspective.  

His Career statistics reveal :  6th fastest to 100 wickets; 9^th fastest to 150;  3rd fastest to 200 wickets; 1 fastest to 300 wickets; 1st  fastest to 350 (combined);  2nd fastest to 400 ; 2nd fastest to 450 and 2^nd fastest to 500   – among all bowlers that would include all time greats like Muthiah Muralitharan, legendary Dennis Lillee, Richard Hadlee, Kapil Dev, Andy Roberts, Malcolm Marshall and all those who played Test Cricket !  

To the Q that wavers in mind of fan that why Ashwin has often got a raw deal- there is Einstein’s famous words :  “Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds. The mediocre mind is incapable of understanding the man who refuses to bow blindly to conventional prejudices and chooses instead to express his opinions courageously and honestly.”
