I had earlier posted of my auto experience elsewhere and the
way the Chennai city is abuzz with the news of ‘Namma Auto’ – an initiative aimed at
providing the passenger comfort without bargaining…. All of us looked forward to the launch of this
…. Which was initially stated to be on June 6th 2013………… understand
that it was delayed.
The message in its website states that Namma Auto is
established with the aim of providing comprehensive and dedicated service to
the customers. Namma Auto is an auto for hire and provides cheap and efficient
transportation to the customers. It is not
to be a ‘call auto’ but would be available in every other stand with a yellow
board on top, is what they claimed it to be
The
initiative sounds sensible and music to the ear of Chennai’s muddled
travellers……… I could not see any of them on road thus far…. though a couple of
my friends spoke of having travelled in it.
On 29th
June 13, [Sat] – I could see one standing nearer Raghavendra Mutt, Triplicane
on Thulasinga Perumal Koil Street [nearer NKT National Boy’s High school] and
could not resist the temptation of taking a photo.
