India beats England by a huge margin - Victory tastes sweet

After the disastrous England Tour, where India failed to win any matches, a good sign today.  Few minutes back,  Ashwin bowled the last man to defeat England by a huge margin of 126 runs.  That is the kind of start that Indian fan has been yearning for.

Things did not appear all that bright when close to 30 over mark, Indians were struggling with only 125 runs on board and Parthiv Patel, Rahane, Gambhir and Kohli were back in the pavilion.  A fighting total was not in sight !

In the end, England were bowled out for 174 in 36.1 overs.  Umesh Yadav had figures of 5-0-32-2 whilst spinners R Ashwin had 8.1-0-35-3 & Ravindra Hadeja 7-0-34-3.

From the struggle to a good score was possible by a savage innings of 87 not out off 70 balls by Dhoni, ably assisted by a cameo of Ravindra Jadeja and another good knock by Suresh Raina.  The much advertised helicopter shot was on view as Dhoni scored a six and 10 fours in that knock.  Steve Finn was battered for 67 off nine with a solitary wicket.  Raina made some lusty hits to make 61 off 55.

Alastair Cook  made a good 60 from 63 balls, but  fell in the 23rd and soon his other mates joined him back at the pavilion.  Dangerman Pietersen was run out by a direct hit by Ashwin.   The target of 301 looked too steep but England capitulating to 174 was not so much expected.

The Indian Team was :  : 1 Parthiv Patel, 2 Gautam Gambhir, 3 Ajinkya Rahane, 4 Virat Kohli, 5 MS Dhoni (capt and wk), 6 Suresh Raina, 7 Ravindra Jadeja, 8 R Ashwin, 9 Praveen Kumar, 10 Vinay Kumar, 11 Umesh Yadav.

The win augurs well for India and hope that it is just the right start to give back in the best manner !!
