Indian Independence Day Celerbations at Hindu High School, Triplicane

Happiness celebrating Nation’s Independence day.

15th August is a great day  -  this year our beloved Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modiji addressed the Nation on the 79th  Independence Day from the ramparts of the Red Fort, Delhi

How would One feel to have one’s name written on the board of the School where one studied four  decades ago !!    Those who have lived in or have spent some time in  Triplicane,  would  never miss that imposing [Red / Saffron] structure at 149 Big Street, Triplicane, Chennai 600 005.  A landmark by itself – an imposing structure - bricks and saffron coloured walls with Indo-sarsenic architecture has inspired many and created many worthy students.  Hindu High School founded as Dravida Patasala for Tamil boys which later amalgamated with The Hindu Andhra Balura Patasala for Telegu boys that were in existence in 1852.

On this great day, National Flag  Triranga  is hoisted at very many places – at Triplicane SYMA – His Holiness Sri Sri Vidhya Vallabha Theertha Swamiji of Kaniyur Mutt, Udupi, hoisted the National flag and inaugurated Cataract Eye detection camp.

It was indeed a momentous day and very special occasion for Me, as I was invited to be the Chief Guest at  my alma-mater, the glorious Educational institution nearing its 175th year – the Hindu High School (now called Hindu Higher Secondary School,  Big Street, Red Building).  I hoisted the National Flag and spoke about the school’s past glory, Nation, its unsung martyrs, Triranga and the social service Organisation SYMA.

To me it is a very great honour to come to my ‘alma mater’ and participate in the celebrations on our National day.  It was indeed nostalgic. The Independence Day celebrations  at the school were very well organized. The writing on the black board was so artistically done by the Drawing Master and the students parade was so good. The cultural programs were really of a good standard – with students fluently speaking English and acting very well.  The theme of ‘say NO to Drugs’ was very well conceptualized. Overall the function was neatly organized – well attended by students and teachers.

My gratitude and thanks to Mr G Jeganathan, HM; Sri Ramakrishna Achar; other Teaching Staff and non-teaching staff, Students – it was indeed very nostalgic and the day remains etched in my memory forever.

With great regards – S Sampathkumar
Student of Hindu High School 1974 – 1981 (+2 second batch)

Many thanks to R Kannan & R Sanjeevi for this .. ..

  4. The Indian Independence Day celebrations at Hindu High School, Triplicane, sound truly inspiring! Events like these not only honor our freedom fighters but also instill patriotism and values in students. Such school programs encourage young minds to learn about history in a meaningful way. For students who are looking to express their thoughts on national events through essays, professional guidance can be very helpful. 5. Celebrating Independence Day at Hindu High School brought back cherished memories. The Prime Minister's address resonated deeply. It's an honor to be remembered by your school after so many years. The event was beautifully organized, from the artistic blackboard to the impactful say NO to Drugs theme. It was so good to see students shining. Thinking of carving some virtual slopes later, a bit like playing Snow Rider 3D, but with memories of school!

  6. Hello Srinivasan! It’s great to see your passion for Marine Insurance and your love for temples, especially Sri Parthasarathi swami thirukKoyil. Your blogs sound fascinating, and I’m sure they resonate with many readers. Speaking of hobbies, if you ever want a fun break, I highly recommend playing Retro Bowl. It's an enjoyable way to unwind after a day of sharing your thoughts. Looking forward to your upcoming posts!
