It is around 09.30 pm as I type my thoughts in a post .. . not sure, when you hit the bed ? – how well you sleep. Do you get up at midnight once, or no. of times, do you have continuous dreams ! can you restore your sleep straightaway after the break and does your dreams continue too !!
Remember Kim Hughes touring India, Dilip Doshi making debut at Chepauk, followed by Shivlal Yadav – ending the famous spin quartet era . .. .. in that tour a player nicknamed ‘Sounda’ came along – did not contribute much. He played against South Zone at Hyderabad too.
Sleep is very very important to humans - getting enough quality sleep every night is important for good health. Most of us may still be unclear about what “quality sleep” entails and what impact sleep really has on their health. Maybe we only know that sleep deprivation is harmful. No scientist has 100% confidence to tell us when we should sleep or when we should not sleep, [or] whether there are additional sleep tips that are important for health ! – all that we have been told is hit the bed early, have good sleep – enough, long and quality one !! A study in a recently published in the journal Health Data Science has linked 172 different diseases to poor sleep patterns. Of those diseases, 92 had over 20% of the risk correlated with poor sleep behavior.
Moving
slightly away, ‘Trust’ is required for good quality sleep. Trust is a firm belief in the reliability,
truth, ability, or strength of someone or something. Sleep is a naturally recurring state of mind
and body, characterized by altered consciousness, reduced physical activity,
and inhibited sensory activity. It's a crucial biological process that allows
the body and brain to rest, repair, and consolidate memories, while also
impacting various bodily functions.
Trust and sleep are intricately linked, as falling asleep can be viewed as an act of trust, requiring faith in one's safety during unconsciousness. Furthermore, social trust has been linked to the prevalence of sleep disorders, with lower social trust associated with a greater likelihood of experiencing sleep disturbances, particularly in the aftermath of traumatic events.
Insomnia is common but, sometimes, its causes are not. In the absence of adequate repose, the mind loses its capacity to exercise sound judgment, solve problems, manage emotions, communicate effectively and concentrate on tasks. One’s mood becomes erratic, reactive and irritable, and the body suffers from diminished immunity, weight gain and a general inflammatory response that catalyzes a host of other physical ills. Basically, it makes you crazy and sick.
Our Sleep is good business for some Companies. Sleep therapy, consultation, medicines, equipments including beds and cots are multi-crore industry. Recently, The Sleep Company stated that it has raised ₹480 Crore in a Series D funding round led by ChrysCapital and 360 ONE Asset. Founded by Priyanka and Harshil Salot, The Sleep Company began with offering scientifically supported mattresses and has evolved into a brand dedicated to enhancing consumers’ sleeping and sitting experiences. It recently opened its 150th exclusive brand outlet. “The funding will accelerate the company’s plans to scale manufacturing, deepen offline presence, unlock new product categories, and invest in innovation and talent as it prepares for its next phase of growth,” it added
Before concluding the Cricketer referred at the start was Sleep [Peter Raymond Sleep], a former Australian cricketer who played 14 Test matches for Australia between 1979 and 1990. Nicknamed "Sounda", Sleep made his national debut during the World Series Cricket period, and although his performances were not high, Sleep publicly reported that he had turned down a $15,000/year offer to play for World Series Cricket. In 1979, Sleep, Jim Higgs and Bruce Yardley were the 3 spinners in the team that toured India for which Sleep had to break a contract he had signed with the Lancashire League, and was fined.
Peter Sleep’s
gentle leg-spin did not cause any sleepless night for Indian batsman during
that tour !
