In the vast expanse of Marina Beach
dotting the Bay of Bengal, there are heritage buildings, Educational
Institutions, many statues of Tamil poets, freedom fighters and
politicians – and there was this ‘Gandhi
Statue’ opposite to IG Office, sculpted by Devi Prasad Roy Chowdhury. There was a statue for actor Shivaji too !
This pic was taken a few years ago ! - Shivaji statue was moved away by a Court
order. This Gandhi statue stands moved
to further inside, sort of obscure now – as Metro Train work is on in full
swing !!
