SYMA Growth students perform moderately well in HSC (+2) Exams

Education is the most important thing in life – the best of the riches that one can possess.  Only Education can refine a person and ensure one’s success in life.   In the state of Tamilnadu, in 1978,  based on the national pattern, Higher Secondary Education with 12 years of schooling (10+2) was introduced.  In earlier days, there was 11 years of schooling; PUC and Graduation.  Now, the first University Degree or Professional courses is after the +2 stage, and that way the HSC examinations are of great significance, for they shape the future of the students.

At the important juncture, arising out of various reasons, students could lose focus and could fade away.  When the student lacks self belief, is  not able to understand what is being is taught and  stays away from the main stream, problem begins.  It is also the innate inhibition, the lack of courage to ask questions or tell the Class teacher about their inability to comprehend that makes them feel aloof. Such students are most likely to lose track and fail in the examination.  Failure is a monster and could potentially destroy the student.  A failed student not only loses studies but becomes an object of ridicule, loses self confidence and in the mental pressure to establish, some turn violent and some would even turn anti – social.

We at SYMA, feel strongly the primary responsibility  of improving the Society and helping the underprivileged.  This is better done by providing the children good education.   We have in our earlier years arranged for tuition closer to examinations to take care of those children who dreaded the examinations but any last minute work is only half good.   We have been debating on this and contemplating on providing a secure solution.  Thus our idea of a professionally run tuition centre was born.    The primary aim was to assist the select students who we felt were average or on the margin – just wanting to be nurtured and cared for and ensure their success.

Our journey in right earnest began on 6th July 2008 and  on a very auspicious day – SYMA Growth was born.  It was inaugurated at NKT National Girls Higher Secondary School, Triplicane by Shri R Sekar, IPS, (the then) Commissioner of Police, Greater Chennai.  It was SYMA’s platform for providing quality education to the under-privileged, helping them to concentrate on studies and ensure that they do well in the examinations, eventually leading to their betterment in the Society.

Now into its 5th year, our professional tuition centre  ‘SYMA Growth’  runs at NKT National Boys High School, Triplicane  virtually on all days of the academic year providing   professional tuition by qualified dedicated school teachers, free of cost  to students.   Last year we enrolled around 70 students in the +2 stream (39 in Science Group and 31 in Commerce Group).  We have bitterly learnt that when we provide everything free, there appears some slackness and carefree attitude with the recipients and at times there have been some trouble on the attendance and attitude fronts.

Today, the  Directorate of Government Examinations, Government of Tamil Nadu has declared results of the  TN state board Higher Secondary Examination.  Above 8.5 lakh students appeared 12th exam in Tamil Nadu and Puduchery. Total 6,55,594 students passed 12th public exam in this year. 4,48,323 students above 60% marks.  The first rank holder from Namakkal – Sushmitha has secured 1189 marks out of 1200.

The students of SYMA Growth have fared moderately well.  Of the 70, 60 have passed (86%).  Among the 10 who have failed, there were 6 who had dropped out in between and in sometimes contributed to their own failure.  Still, we would have been happier with a better performance, for which we will strive this year.

Statistically, 43 students have got more than 800 marks (66% &above); 6 of them have secured more than 1000 marks.  We feel happy in the performance of our ward  R. Sandhiya of NKT Girls Hr Sec School for securing 1137 / 1200 and standing first in our SYMA Growth.  Special appreciations are due to her, as she got 200 in Accountancy; 200 in Business Maths; 195 in Commerce and 184 in Economics.  We congratulate her and wish her the best of things in Educational career and in life.

We pray to Almighty for continued success of this project and look forward to continued support of you all.  The success is due to the blessings of Lord Parthasarathi who guides us in all our steps.  We express our gratitude and thanks to  the  great efforts of the  great team of   noble teachers  and the Management of NK Thirumalachariyar Boys High School who provided us the infrastructure.

Many of you have supported SYMA through me and it is time for SYMA to say thank you to all of you.  Thank you.

Regards – S. Sampathkumar. Secretary, SYMA

  4. Madam, Yes. It is structured. We run a Tamil medium Section and one English medium Section for 10th. One Commerce Group and One Science Group [English Medium] for +2. The classes are conducted on all days of the week between 5.30 to 7.30 pm and being taught by well qualified School teachers. For the students it is totally free. SYMA incurs expenditure towards infrastructure - rent, electricity, full time coordinator, watchman charges and miscellaneous including stationery charges.

Both boys and girls are selected - the only criterion is economically poor. This year we have fixed the ceiling at Rs.15000/- p.a., Parental income above this is considered as not so poor

Would be happy to have you as visitor to our facility, the regular classes for this year would commence in the first week of July 12.
