Guam the Nation ! ........... and GUAM changes official language from Russian to English

Apra Harbour is a deep-water port formed by Orote Peninsula in the south and Cabras Island in the north.  A natural port it handles about 2 million tons of cargo a year ~ the location of this is not exactly inside a sovereign Nation.

There are ‘dependent territories of sovereign states’ – in this league are classified : French Polynesia, New Caledonia, American Samoa,  Guam, Northern Mariana Islands,  and ……. A dependent territory, is one that does not possess full political independence or sovereignty as a sovereign state yet remains politically outside of the controlling state's integral area.  A subnational entity typically represents a division of the State proper, while a dependent territory often maintains a great degree of autonomy from the controlling State. Historically, most colonies were considered to be dependencies of their controlling State. Most of these have either become independent, by joining neighbouring independent countries, or assimilated into the conquering state.

Guam is an organized, unincorporated territory of the United States in the western Pacific Ocean. It is one of five U.S. territories with an established civilian government.  Guam is listed as one of seventeen Non-Self-Governing Territories by the Special Committee on Decolonization of the United Nations. The island's capital is Hagåtña  and Apra its major port.
It is stated that ‘Chamorros’, Guam's indigenous people, first inhabited the island approximately 4,000 years ago. The island has a long history of European colonialism, beginning with Ferdinand Magellan's Spanish expedition landing of 1521. Guam is the largest island in Micronesia and was the only U.S.-held island in the region before World War II. Guam was captured by the Japanese  in 1941, just hours after the attack on Pearl Harbor, and was occupied for two and a half years.  Today, Guam's economy is supported by its principal industry, tourism, which is composed primarily of visitors from Japan.

An interesting news of Azerbaijan News network (ann.az)  states :  Organization for Democracy and Economic Development (GUAM) has decided to change the official language of the organization from Russian to English, said on Twitter, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin. "I have fingered presidency in GUAM. It is necessary to fill it with new content.  I offered to conduct meetings in English, rather than Russian. All supported ," wrote Klimkin.

A GUAM Secretary General immediately showed that Cyrillic was not installed on his  computer. Therefore, all, as they say, on the same page’  added  Klimkin. The microblog of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry reported that the meeting of the GUAM  is held on  December 5 in Basel (Switzerland.) The Organization for Democracy and Economic Development, GUAM, was created in 1997 by Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Moldova (from 1999 to 2005, the organization was also part of Uzbekistan.)

Obviously this GUAM, the organisation has nothing to do with GUAM the Nation – which has English and Chamorro as its official languages.
