Google Reunion video going viral... sweet jhajariya

Baidu, Bing, Blekko, Duckduckgo, Qrobe, Sogou, Volunia ~ wondering what ….add ‘google’ to the list and you will understand…. ‘search engines’….. A web search engine is a software system that is designed to search for information on the World Wide Web. The search results are generally presented in a line of results often referred to as search engine results pages (SERPs).

~ and here is something on an advt promoting Google which is really good – ‘Partitions divide countries, friendships find a way,” says the caption below the video, which is one in a series of five videos. The three-and-a-half minute commercial starts with Suman, a young girl in India, listening to her grandfather Mehra  narrate his memories of Yousuf, his childhood friend he had shared memorable times with, in Lahore. With watery eyes, he explains how the Partition split the two pals apart, with Yousuf staying in Pakistan as his friend crossed into India.

Suman  runs a random search on Google; Suman ‘googles’ the trivia from her grandfather’s story to connect the dots an old gate – mochi gate,  sweet shop and ‘jhajariya’  all in google leads her to identifying that old friend whose son meanwhile searches the visa process, weather and like things ……….. making the two old friends emotionally reunite… a feat which would not have happened so easily decades ago.

The advertisement is currently going viral and owes its spiraling views to the overwhelming emotional appeal, grossing upwards of 100,000 views and innumerable facebook posts and tweets.  It is Google’s way of emphasizing its primacy and trying to show case its contribution connecting humanity …..  Google has long been the default search engine for Indians,  and with this it is attracting more people to its fold.
