Auto : நான் ஆட்டோகாரன் ஆட்டோக்காரன்

 

Auto-rickshaw is an Ubiquitous vehicle – on every street, you find it – and they beat the city traffic in their unique way.  Some drivers sit in a bizarre position, legs apart and side-on and wind their way, cutting across, taking their vehicles in vantage angles, where one would dream not – smallest of gaps – the vehicle would turn, right, left, and go in the centre. 

"Ubiquitous" என்ற வார்த்தைக்கு இணையான தமிழ் வார்த்தை, "எங்கும் நிறைந்திருக்கிற" அல்லது "எங்குங் காணப்படுகிற" ஆகும். இதை "தெளிவுரு" என்றும் குறிப்பிடலாம்.  

In tinseldom, Auto-drivers are famous.  In Kadhal kottai – Ajith drives auto.  In Attahasam, his auto comedy was a great hit.  In Kulasami, Vimal drives auto – but the character that struck in heart is that of Manikam,  a humble auto rickshaw driver who lives in Madras with his family … .. and his flashback where he tells the ‘truth’ to an Educationist !! 

No prize for guessing !! – it is Baasha, the Rajinikanth starrer.

Baashha   directed by Suresh Krissna was a cult hit. Its storyline revolved  around an auto rickshaw driver who maintains a humble exterior and avoids violence but conceals a dark past from his family.  Back in 1998, a Telegu movie – Auto Driver, starring Nagarjuna, Deepti Bhatnagar, Simran, with music of Deva, directed by Suresh Krishna bombed at box office.  

 
.. .. and not all sitting in the front seat are auto-driver !!
