not simply “Ee” [வீட்டு ஈ ] – but Eristalinus taeniops

This buzzing insect attracted me and at first sight I thought it to be common House fly !  - on a closer scrutiny it was -  Stripe-Eyed Flower Fly.   It is not simply “Ee” – but Eristalinus taeniops,  a species of hoverfly, also known as the band-eyed drone fly.

வீட்டு ஈ (Housefly) என்பது சைக்ளோரர்பாவின் துணை வரிசையைச் சேர்ந்த இருசிறகிப் பூச்சி.    இது உலகம் முழுவதும் பரவியுள்ளது. வளர்ந்த ஈக்கள் சாம்பல் முதல் கருப்பு நிறம் வரையானதாகவும், மார்பில் நான்கு அடர்வண்ண, நீளக் கோடுகளுடன், சற்று மயிரிழைகள் கொண்ட உடலுடன், ஓர் இணை இறக்கைகள் கொண்டவை. இவை சிவப்பு நிறக் கூட்டுக் கண்கள் கொண்டவை.  இதன் கால்களின் நுனிப் பகுதியில் கொக்கி போன்ற உறுப்புகள் உள்ளன. இக்கால்களிலும் உணர்கொம்புகளிலும் மெல்லிய மயிரிழைகள் அடர்த்தியாக வளர்ந்திருக்கும், ஈ எங்கு அமர்கிறதோ அவ்விடத்தில் உள்ள அசுத்தங்களில் காணும் நோய்க்கிருமிகள் அம்மயிரிழைகளில் ஒட்டிக்கொள்ளும். அதற்கு அம்மயிரிழைகளில் உள்ள ஒருவித பிசுபிசுப்பும் பெருந் துணை செய்கிறது. 

The housefly (Musca domestica) is a fly of the suborder Cyclorrhapha. It possibly originated in the Middle East, and spread around the world.  It is the most common fly species found in houses. Adults are gray to black, with four dark, longitudinal lines on the thorax, slightly hairy bodies, and a single pair of membranous wings. They have red eyes, set farther apart in the slightly larger female.   Here is a close-up picture of the common housefly !

A web search revealed this to be a type of Hoverfly.  Hoverflies, also called flower flies or syrphids, make up the insect family Syrphidae. As their common name suggests, they are often seen hovering or nectaring at flowers; the adults of many species feed mainly on nectar and pollen, while the larvae (maggots) eat a wide range of foods. In some species, the larvae are saprotrophs, eating decaying plant and animal matter in the soil or in ponds and streams. In other species, the larvae are insectivores and prey on aphids, thrips, and other plant-sucking insects.

Eristalinus taeniops is an exotic and synanthropic species. Thompson reported it for the first time from Chile in two localities without details of them. However, the distribution is wider due to data reported by the flower fly citizen science project.  Eristalinus taeniops has been collected visiting ornamental flowers such as Veronica sp., and Viburnum sp. at different parts in the Metropolitan, Valparaíso and Coquimbo regions

Messie, walks on red carpet, garners glory !!

 

It is a different World out there for celebrities !! ~ red carpet at Cannes !!!

In an isolated mountain chalet near Grenoble, novelist Sandra Voyter decides to reschedule her interview with a female student because her husband, university lecturer Samuel Maleski, plays music loudly in their attic, disrupting the interview. After the student drives away from the chalet, Samuel and Sandra's visually impaired son, Daniel, takes a walk outside with his guide dog Snoop. When they return home, Daniel finds Samuel dead from an apparent fall.

Sandra insists that the fall must have been accidental. Her old friend and lawyer, Vincent, suggests the possibility of suicide, while Sandra recalls her husband's attempt to overdose on aspirin six months earlier, after going off antidepressants. After an investigation, Daniel's conflicting accounts of what happened shortly before his father's death, combined with the revelation that Samuel sustained a head wound before his body hit the ground and an audio recording of a fight by Samuel and Sandra the previous day, Sandra is indicted on charges of homicide  !!!.

The Border Collie is a British breed of herding dog of the collie type of medium size. It originates in the region of the Anglo-Scottish border, and descends from the traditional sheepdogs once found all over the British Isles. It is kept mostly as a working sheep-herding dog or as a companion animal.  It reportedly is one among the most intelligent breeds of dog.  

The 2^nd and 3^rd paras are the story line of ‘Anatomy of a Fall’ – legal drama film of French released in 2023 starring  Sandra Hüller as a writer trying to prove her innocence in her husband's death. Anatomy of a Fall premiered at the 76th Cannes Film Festival in May 2023, where it won the Palme d'Or and the Palm Dog Award and competed for the Queer Palm. It was released theatrically in France by Le Pacte in Aug  2023, receiving critical acclaim, selling over 1.9 million admissions in France, and winning six awards at the 49th César Awards, including Best Film. The film also received five nominations at the 96th Academy Awards including Best Picture, Best Director (Triet), Best Actress (Hüller), and won Best Original Screenplay.

He's already starred in an Oscar-winning film and rubbed shoulders with the stars at the awards ceremony the He here is the Border Collie, who was comfortable with   his new lifestyle as he posed on the red carpet at Cannes. Messi, star of Anatomy of a Fall, became the first dog to tread the strip in the South of France.

Not dissimilar to his celebrity friends, he stood on two legs on the red carpet and appeared to wave to the crowd – using his paws.Messi, eight, was carrying a selfie stick and camera between his teeth to film TikTok videos for the festival.He's already starred in an Oscar-winning film and rubbed shoulders with the stars at the awards ceremony.  In a glittering ceremonh where models descended, Messie too garnered lot of attention. He rose to fame after playing Snoop, a guide dog, in French murder mystery Anatomy of a Fall, which won Best Screenplay at this year's Oscars. At the event Messi was seen with his owner and cinema dog trainer Laura Martin Contini who wore a stylish light grey dress.

Justine Triet's murder mystery Anatomy of a Fall premiered last year in Cannes where it went on to win the festival's top award, the Palme d'Or. Messi won the Palm Dog, a journalist-created prize for the festival's top dog.Supermodel Heidi Klum, Léa's French compatriot Eva Green, director Greta Gerwig and Oscar winning Hollywood legend Meryl Streep were among those on hand to toast the film's official launch. The ceremony opened with the presentation of an honorary Palme d'Or for Meryl  and the unveiling of Greta Gerwig's jury, as the French Riviera spectacular kicked off a potentially volatile 77th edition.

Ignorance of Law is no excuse ! - Traffic violation by high and mighty !!

 

Literacy is the ability to read and write. Literacy can be understood to be -"particular ways of thinking about and doing reading and writing" with the purpose of understanding or expressing thoughts or ideas in written form in some specific context of use – then there is ‘legal literacy’ !? 

“Ignorantia Juris Non Excusat” means that ignorance of the law is no excuse. This principle places the responsibility on individuals to know and follow the law, regardless of whether they were aware of the law or not. In other words, a person cannot avoid persecution or  liability by claiming that they did not know the law.

For instance, a person caught travelling in a public transport  without a ticket cannot claim ignorance of the law as a defence and will be punished.

Miles away, in UK – read this interesting report in Mail Online -  A magistrate who was caught speeding while dashing to court has denied seeking to 'curry favour' when he brought up his JP status while appearing in court for the offence.

Robert Gonouya, 52, told fellow magistrates that he inadvertently broke the speed limit while rushing to sit on the bench.The school governor has now been issued with formal advice for misconduct after a panel found he had breached a 'declaration and undertaking' magistrates sign upon appointment 'to inform their bench chair of any involvement they have in impending court proceedings'.

The Judicial Conduct Investigations Office (JCIO) added in a statement: 'Magistrates are also advised to avoid personal reference to their position as a magistrate in circumstances where it could be perceived as an attempt to influence or gain advantage.'The slap on the wrist means Mr Gonouya, of Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, can carry on dishing out fines, penalty points and disqualifications to drivers who appear before him.

Mr Gonouya was caught driving at 35mph in a 30mph zone on Rosemary Street in Mansfield, just yards from the town's magistrates court where he has sat on the Nottinghamshire bench since 2021.'I didn't know the camera was there', he said. 'It's not like I was doing 100mph – it could happen to anyone.'It's something that was clearly unintentional.' He said of the December 2022 incident: 'It happened at ten minutes to 2pm and I was on my way into court for the (2pm) afternoon session.

The JCIO statement said Mr Gonouya had apologised for not informing his bench chair and explained that he intended to do so after the case had concluded.'In recommending formal advice, the panel considered that Mr Gonouya had acted naïvely but had learnt from his mistakes and was unlikely to repeat them.'

Nottinghamshire magistrates hit Mr Gonouya, who is the General Secretary of the UK-based Zimbabwe Diaspora Nation Building Initiative, with a £207 fine, £82 victim surcharge, £90 costs and endorsed his licence with three penalty points.

IPL Update - who is in the race !!!

 

Life is a race, even when it is unequal as the Pigeon beats the Squirrel here !!

 

Yesterday  striking at 175.5, the left-hand batter Arshad  muscled five sixes and three fours to keep LSG in the game till the very end. His unbeaten knock brought down the equation to 29 off the last 12. Delhi Capitals signed off the league stage with a 19-run win over Lucknow Super Giants in Delhi, and kept themselves in contention for a top-four finish, even if only mathematically. LSG, with one more game left against Mumbai Indians, aren't out of the running either, but both teams will have to depend on other results to go their way if they are to make the top four.

 

For Chennai Super Kings – a win against RCB on Saturday will ensure a playoff qualification. If they lose by a margin under 18 runs (chasing 200), then their net run rate will stay above that of RCB's. If they lose by a larger margin, they will have to hope that SRH lose both their remaining games and finish behind CSK on run rate, in which case both CSK and RCB will qualify.

Cheetah is a marvel ~ the fastest land animal.  Its  slender, long-legged body is built for speed.  In Tamil comedy film ‘Kalakalappu’, directed by Sundar C ~ Santhanam will show a portrait of a man attacking a Cheetah with sickle. Vimal would remark having seen it elsewhere… Santhanam retorts saying that it was his grandfather attacking the tiger – the photo which they later gave to matchbox manufacturer…

Georgia Laurie, 28,  feared her sister, Melissa, was dead when she saw the crocodile drag her underwater after they went for a swim in a lagoon in Mexico.“I heard her scream and I saw her being taken underneath by the crocodile. Then I realised she was really in trouble when I was calling out her name and there was no response from her,” she told the BBC.  She then started beating the crocodile on its snout while it grabbed her other hand as she fought to save her twin sister from the reptile.

Later, her sister was taken to hospital for treatment of the injuries sustained in the attack at the  lagoon, about 10 miles from the Mexican city of Puerto Escondido. She developed sepsis and had to be placed in a coma but  recovered later.

The twins, from Berkshire, had been volunteering with animals in Mexico when the incident took place in the first week of June. Their older sister, Hana Laurie,  set up a GoFundMe page to help pay for their medical bills and fly their parents to Mexico.

Now comes the news that the  woman who punched a crocodile in the snout to save her sister is among the recipients of bravery awards included on the king’s first civilian gallantry list.Georgia Laurie, 31, from Sandhurst in Berkshire, will receive the Gallantry Medal, which acknowledges exemplary acts of bravery. She described the award as “a silver lining” to their traumatic ordeal.

“It’s been a good thing for not just me but for the whole family. I feel like I have to share it with my sister because let’s face it I don’t think I would have been nominated for it if she didn’t survive,” she said. “What’s made this story so incredible is Melissa’s unwavering bravery throughout it all because she was so strong during it and I don’t think I would be here without her. She really gave me the strength to keep fighting.”

Also to receive the medal is PC Zach Printer, who confronted the gunman Jake Davison while unarmed on August 2021 in Keyham, Plymouth. Davison killed his mother, Maxine, 51, and then shot dead Sophie Martyn, three, her father, Lee, 43, Stephen Washington, 59, and Kate Shepherd, 66, before killing himself.

This year’s civilian gallantry list, which includes nine people, is the first to be approved by the king.The King's Gallantry Medal (KGM), is a United Kingdom decoration awarded for exemplary acts of bravery.

Obstruction : means   to block or close up by an obstacle.  Its synonyms are : block, hinder, and impede.

 

Back in 2021, Mumbai Indians drafted in a  Delhi seamer as a replacement for the injured Arjun Tendulkar in the  UAE leg of the IPL.  The 23-year old  started training with the squad after completing the mandatory quarantine. Some time alter, he   also travelled with the India white-ball squad to Sri Lanka as a net bowler.   During the 2020-21 50-over Vijay Hazare Trophy, he emerged as Delhi's joint-second-highest wicket-taker, with 11 strikes at an economy rate of 5.65.  No prize for guessing, he was the star for CSK in today’s match - Simarjeet Singh 

Today at Chepauk, Chennai Super Kings signed off their home league campaign with a win, giving themselves a decent chance of coming back to Chennai for the last two playoff games. Despite losing their 11th toss out of 13 and being asked to field in the afternoon heat 40 hours after finishing their last match in Ahmedabad, the CSK bowlers used a slow pitch expertly to keep Rajasthan Royals down to 141, which they chased down with relative ease. 

The win  has taken  CSK up to 14 points from 13 matches, level with Sunrisers Hyderabad who have a game in hand, and two points clear of the nearest challengers outside the top four. Rajasthan Royals suffered their third straight defeat, which will be a cause for concern for them going into the playoffs, especially with Jos Buttler not expected to be available for the final week. 

One moot point for discussion today could well be the way Ravindra Jadeja was given out – ‘Out Obstructing the field’.   Jadeja was running towards the non-striker when keeper Sanju Samson collected the ball and tried a throw at the stumps, he could see only Jadeja and the ball hit him in the back.  On appeal, Third Umpire ruled that Jadeja has seen where the ball is when turning around and has run in the line between Samson and the stumps. He  ruled  that Jadeja has done that "wilfully", which is the critical part of the law.

 

The decision was not very relevant or a game changer as CSK only  needed 21 off 25, Ruturaj was still there – and did not change the course or result of the match.  Jadeja had played to third man and wanted a single, but was sent back by Gaikwad; Samson fired it to the non-striker end and found Sir Jadeja in between.   Jadeja's turn had quite a sizeable radius,  the third umpire reckoned that  Jadeja knew where the ball was, and that he turned into the line of the throw.

'Out'  was the verdict, and Jadeja had to go – he was not happy though !!   37.1 of Cricket Laws defines   ‘Out obstructing the field’ 

37.1.1 Either batter is out Obstructing the field if, except in the circumstances of 37.2, and while the ball is in play, he/she wilfully attempts to obstruct or distract the fielding side by word or action.

37.1.2 The striker is out Obstructing the field if, except in the circumstances of 37.2, in the act of receiving a ball delivered by the bowler, he/she wilfully strikes the ball with a hand not holding the bat.

37.2 Not out Obstructing the field

A batter shall not be out Obstructing the field if the obstruction or distraction is accidental, or the obstruction is in order to avoid injury, or in the case of the striker, he/she makes a second or subsequent strike to guard his/her wicket lawfully as in Law 34.3 (Ball lawfully struck more than once). 

There is much more to his Law and the  bowler does not get credit for the wicket.

Crores of Cash - in Andhra Pradesh !!

How much of money is big money ! – and how much of Cash have you handled at a single instance ?

 

The Godavari is India's second longest river after the holy Ganges and drains the third largest basin in India, covering about 10% of India's total geographical area.  The river originates at Trimbakeshwar, Nashik, Maharashtra,  flows east for 1,465 kilometres (910 mi), draining the states of Maharashtra (48.6%), Telangana (18.8%), Andhra Pradesh (4.5%), Chhattisgarh (10.9%) and Odisha (5.7%). The river ultimately empties into the Bay of Bengal through an extensive network of distributaries.  The bridges across Godavari at Rajamahendrapuram (Rajahmundry) are really lengthy ! 

We have seen stash of currency notes only in films.  In Mani Rathnam’s ‘Thiruda Thiruda’ it was freshly printed bank notes of incredible 10 billion value in container lorry and the money trail by a group that formed the main storyline.   In Sankar’s  ‘Sivaji, the Boss’ the story line was black money…. In the long climax, Sivaji fights the villain in the terrace of his medical college ~ and unravels hard currency notes stashed below the tiles………. !! …. Currency notes fly everywhere and the students start collecting them stating it was the black money paid by them for begetting seats…….in the melee, the villain gets killed in the stampede. 

The district, like the rest of the Deccan, was under the Nandas and Mauryas in its early history. After the fall of the Mauryan Empire, the district was under the Satavahanas until the 3rd century under the famous poet king Haala. Gupta emperor Samudragupta invaded during the rule of both Pishtapura and Avamukta in the district in 350 AD.  Samudragupta's invasion was followed by the rule of the Mathara dynasty from 375 to 500. East Godavari is a district in the Coastal Andhra region of Andhra Pradesh, India. Its district headquarters is at Rajamahendravaram. In the Madras Presidency, the District of Rajamahendravaram was created in 1823.  It was reorganised in 1859 and was bifurcated into Godavari and Krishna districts. During British rule, Rajamahendravaram was the headquarters of Godavari District, which was further bifurcated into East Godavari and West Godavari districts in 1925. When the Godavari district was divided, Kakinada became the headquarters of East Godavari and Eluru became headquarters of West Godavari.  Recently in Apr 2022 the East Godavari again was divided in two - Kakinada and East Godavari.  

Godavari is in news for wrong reasons.  In yet another pre-poll cash haul in Andhra Pradesh, police in East Godavari seized Indian currency valued at Rs 7 crore, stuffed in seven boxes from a commercial vehicle. The seizure was made after the vehicle the cash was being ferried from overturned as it was hit by a lorry at Anantapally in Nallajarla mandal. Locals noticed that as many as seven cardboard boxes of cash were being moved from one sack to another in that vehicle and informed the police. The amount seized is reported to be around Rs.7 crore. 

India Today and other media reports that the incident took place while the vehicle was en route to Visakhapatnam from Vijayawada. The driver of the overturned vehicle sustained injuries and was shifted to Gopalapuram Hospital for treatment.  Police have launched an investigation and are trying to ascertain the source of the cash.  This comes just two days after unaccounted cash worth Rs 8 crore was seized from a truck at a checkpost in the state's NTR district on Thursday. The police detained two people in connection to the cash seizure. The cash was hidden in a secret compartment of the pipe-loaded truck. This is the second big cash haul seizure in the state ahead of the May 13 polls. 

Money flows and there is so much of unaccounted money with politicians still!

அவள் அப்படி ஒன்றும் அழகில்லை, அருகாமையிலும் இல்லை -இருந்தும் கழுத்தை ஒரு மாதிரி திருப்பிக்கொண்டு அப்படி ஒரு முறை முறைத்தாள் !! 

 

ஹீரோ  ஹீரோயின்  ரெண்டு பேருமே  கிராமத்தில்  இருக்கும்  டெண்ட்டுக்கொட்டாய்ல  வேலை  செய்யறவங்க . இருவரும்  காதலர்கள் . அந்த  ஊருக்கு ஒரு  சினிமா  டைரக்டர்  வர்றார்.. வந்தவர்  ஹீரோயின்  அழகைப்பார்த்து  உனக்கு  ஒரு  சான்ஸ்  தர்றேன்  சென்னை  போய்  லெட்டர்  போடறேன்னு  சொல்லிட்டுப்போய்ட்டார்.  ஊரெல்லாம்  ஹீரோயின்  செம  ஹிட்  ஆகிட்டார் . சினிமாவுக்குப்போகப்போகும்  சித்தாளு  என  ஏக  மவுசு  - இப்படத்தில் ஒலித்த ஒரு சிறப்பான பாடல் -  பூந்தேனில்  கலந்து பொன் வண்டு  எழுந்து  சங்கீதம்  படித்ததென்ன?

FoV is important for every photographer.  The field of view (FOV) is the extent of the observable world that is seen at any given moment. In the case of optical instruments or sensors it is a solid angle through which a detector is sensitive to electromagnetic radiation.  

Eyes  are the most important  organs of human body that provides vision. They provide beauty to the face, more importantly  make us see beautiful things.  They provide living organisms with vision, the ability to receive and process visual detail.  You would have observed Cats and other animals staring at you.  Cat staring is one of many forms of communications cats use towards others. Typically a cat might stare at new or unfamiliar faces as an intimidation tactic, in hopes that the other cats/ humans  will blink or shy away. Cats are visual hunters, so naturally, they tend to stare in order to keep a close eye on potential prey. Cats will also use a direct stare when they are feeling territorial, showing dominance, or posing a threat or challenge to other cats.

Those wide-eyed fixed gaze can be a bit unnerving.  Rather than challenging you to a staring contest, this curious behaviour is actually something you may have trained your moggy to do without even realising it.

Interesting ! – one of the many times in life, when people do not understand that glare ! eyes convey hundreds of words, many a times they are lost without being understood.

Art of dosa making ! 

கல் தோன்றிய காலத்தில் உருவானது தோசை என ஒரு பரவலான அபிப்ராயம் நிலவுகிறது.  ஹோட்டல்களில் இட்லிக்கு பிறகு அதிகமாக விற்பனையாவதும் தோசைதான் !!

 

எளிது, என்னருமை நண்பர்களே, தோசை வார்த்தல் எளிது !!  சூடான தோசைக் கல்லில், ஒரு கரண்டி தோசை மாவை மெல்லிய வட்டமாக பரப்பி ஒரு இரண்டு முட்டை நெய் அல்லது நல்லெண்ணெய் சீராக ஓரங்களில் விட்டு, சற்று கலர் மாறியதும் துடுப்பு கரண்டியால் அழகாக மெலிதாக கிழியாமல் எடுத்து, புரட்டி அல்லது புரட்டாமலேயே  எடுத்து பரிமாறலாம் அல்லது நாமே சாப்பிடலாம். 

Dosai  is made of batter of rice and urad dal – these are mixed and soaked in water – some add fenugreek seeds too.  After hours, the water is drained and ground to make a grainy paste.  Some salt is added to the batter and kept in a large container – it will ferment and require more space.  Spreading of the batter in sweeping circular motion on the hot upper surface requires expertise – more so in taking it out in a round shape without getting shattered. 

The other day was on breakfast table in a star hotel – could have unhindered view of the live counter.  An young well dressed master stood at the table – took a tea cup of batter, spread it on the hot cooking stone – it went out of shape; after couple of attempts, shape was somewhat Ok but in trying to take it out – it did not come out in single shape – split to pieces – as we watched, it was attempt 7, 8 and on – all outcome was consigned to dustbin. 

Relatively simple task of ‘dosa-making’ – how good are you ? – ever felt it very challenging !!  - ever made dosa in this shape and such a round shape ! – if yes, is your success once a while or always ! 

தோசை என்பது அரிசி மற்றும் உளுந்து சேர்த்து அரைத்த மாவில் தயாரிக்கப்படுகிற  உணவுப் பதார்த்தம்.  தோசை பொதுவாக வெண்மையான நிறத்தில் இருக்கும். தோசை மாவில் வெந்தயம் சிறிது அளவு சேர்த்து அரைத்தால் தோசைக்கு சற்று சிவந்த நிறம் கிடைக்கும். தோசை கல்லில் தோசை ஊற்றுவதற்கு முன் சூடுசெய்யப்பட்டுள்ள தோசைக்கல்லில் சிறிதளவு எண்ணெய் விட்டு, பிறகு சிறிதளவு தண்ணியை தெளித்துவிட்டு தோசையை நைசாக ஊற்றினால் தோசை நன்கு முறுவலாக வரும்.  தோசை கல்லில் மாவு ஊற்றி சுத்தும் போது ஒரே பக்கமாக மட்டுமே மாவை சுத்தி ஊற்ற வேண்டும். ரிவர்ஸில் மாவை சுத்தும்போது தோசை முறுவலாக வராது.

 

Why have it the hard way on a holiday ! – go to a nearby hotel, make the Server repeat the menu at least twice  - express as if you are not happy with the items available, then order ‘one dosa’ giving instruction such as paper thin, crispy, thick, butter added, masala in the middle, topping of carrot, capsicum, ginger  and what not – Server might announce to the kitchen – ‘saarukku oru dosai’

Sai Sudarshan scintillates !!

He has really peaked !  What an innings ! – last year Alec Stewart  signed him to play for  in LV= Insurance County Championship fixtures.  He has grown steadily and scored centuries  against Pakistan A.  Back in 2019, this stylist left-hander cracked two unbeaten centuries in the Vinoo Mankad Tournament and  got selected for the India A team in the U-19 Challenger series that involved three teams from India and one from Nepal  He was the breakout star of Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2021, where he was the second-highest run-getter with 358 runs in eight innings at an average of 71.60 and strike rate of 143.77, in Lyca Kovai Kings' run to the Eliminator  After impressing in TNPL 2021 with his strokeplay, he  was fast-tracked into Tamil Nadu's white-ball and Ranji Trophy sides.

 

In 2022 -  Bhardwaj Sai Sudharsan, sort of unknown stock to outside World having been bought for base price of 20 lakhs got a chance and   he grabbed it with both hands !!   In the IPL Finals 2023, he exploded making 96 off 47 balls and the missed out century became his today !! in just 50 balls.    

Today is the 59^th match of IPL 2024 played at Ahmedabad between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings.  GT batting first has made an impressive 231/3 – there was a 200 partnership.  Shubman Gill and Sai Sudarshan ended becoming the highest 1^st wicket partnership of 210.   

Along the way, Sudharsan  has become the fastest Indian to 1000 IPL runs.  He has accomplished this in just 25 innings while the next is legend Sachin  Tendulkar (31 innings) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (31 innings).  Today he hit 5 fours and 7 sixers.   Shubman Gill and B Sai Sudharsan are   more orthodox batters, but they've been just as brutal with their hitting this evening in Ahmedabad.  Sudarshan was the first to race to 50; but Gill was the first to get to his hundred off 50 balls. In the same over, Sudharsan joined him there off 50 balls too. They've hit the IPL's 100th and 101st tons.

 

Sudharsan's  Bharadwaj is an athlete who represented India at the South Asian (SAF) Games, while his mother Usha Bharadwaj represented Tamil Nadu in volleyball.  Sai has represented India in 3 ODIs – all against South Africa in SA having made two 50s.
