நெஞ்சம் உண்டு, நேர்மை உண்டு, ஓடு ராஜா

Paul Mathry, a student about to graduate and embark upon a teaching career, finds out that his father was convicted for murder, a secret that his mother had hidden from him since his childhood. Driven by an intense desire to see his father, Paul sets out to visit him in prison, only to find out that visitors are never allowed there.  .. .. what is the relevance here !!!

En Annan ( My Elder Brother), a  crime thriller film, directed by P. Neelakantan, starring M. G. Ramachandran and Jayalalithaa was released in 1970.   

Ranga is the son of Velappan, a manager at a mill. Velappan is framed for the murder of one of the partners, Karunagaran. He is sent to jail for a crime he didn't commit. Ranga, since then, works hard to get his sister Thangam educated. She marries a doctor, Murali, who happens to be Karunagaran's son. When he finds out she is Velappan's daughter, he leaves her.  Ranga also goes to jail, finds his father is innocent and takes all out efforts to prove and get him out. 

Movie En Annan - was a remake of the Telugu film, Poola Rangadu (1967), which itself was loosely based on A. J. Cronin's novel, Beyond This Place (1953). The song "Nenjam Undu Nermai Undu" was shot in different areas such as Besant Nagar, Central Station, Ripon Building, University, Munro statue – and it is heartening to see the roads sans traffic,  the old red painted city buses and more. 

The plot at the start is that of - Beyond This Place,  a novel by Scottish author A. J. Cronin first published in 1950.
