மெட்ராஸ் நல்ல மெட்ராஸ்; Where would you find these revellers in Chennai !

மெட்ராஸ் நல்ல மெட்ராஸ்;  மெட்ராஸ் நல்ல மெட்ராஸ்

Can you identify this image !  Say, Where do you find this ? -  three people enjoying a moment of excitement on an amusement park ride. The specific location is not definitively identified by search results, although visual matches suggest it might be at a park such as Wonderla or Imagicaa in India. The non-celebrity people in the image are shown experiencing the thrilling motion of the ride  !! – where ??

The world's first amusement park was Denmark's Bakken, which opened in 1583 on a plot of land next to a natural spring whose reputed healing powers was a major attraction for Copenhagen's residents.  The most famous and visited amusement park in the world is Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, consistently topping global attendance charts, followed closely by other Disney properties like Disneyland in California and Tokyo Disneyland, known for iconic rides, immersive theming, and beloved characters, making them global landmarks for family entertainment.

Magic Kingdom opened as the first part of the Walt Disney World Resort on October 1, 1971, commencing concurrently with Disney's Contemporary Resort and Disney's Polynesian Village Resort.  In recent few decades, many theme parks have sprung up in every major Indian City.

Imagicaa Theme Park, located near Lonavala, Maharashtra, is a  large-scale destination, often compared to Disneyland, featuring thrilling roller coasters like "Nitro," water attractions, and live shows. Wonderla – with  large "amaze" parks in Bengaluru, Kochi, and Hyderabad, Wonderla is known for its high-speed rides, extensive water parks, and laser shows, popular for both wet and dry fun.   Essel World located in Mumbai  offers a wide array of rides, from classic carousels to horror-themed experiences, alongside the adjacent. Nicco Park, in Calcutta, provides over 35 rides and is known for its scenic gardens and attractions like the "Giant Cyclone" and "River Caves". Chennaites know too well -  VGP Universal Kingdom

Anubavi Raja Anubavi (transl. Experience it boy, experience it) written and directed by K Balanchandar hit the silver screens in 1967 – starring  Nagesh along with  Muthuraman, Rajasree and Jayabharathi. The film was  remade in Hindi as Do Phool (1973),[3] in Malayalam as Aanandham Paramaanandham (1977), in Kannada as Kittu Puttu (1977) and in Marathi as Changu Mangu (1990).  Music was by MS Viswanathan, to the lyrics of legendary Kannadasan.   "Madras Nalla Madras" was one of the first songs that tried to provide a commentary on life in the city – might stir controversy, if it had come in recent times !!

The lyrics of the song are not exactly a tribute to the city of Madras  sung in the movie by the wonderful comedian Nagesh.  Nagesh, a villager, comes to Madras   and finds himself completely at sea and everything chaotic and confusing. You can’t blame him, really. Any one experiencing the city for the first time would  feel the same way Nagesh did in the movie.

Well, here is the original of the photo at the start !  - not any amusement park – but painting in a city State Transport Corporation bus taken on the road.

Interesting !!!
