Identify the Car - the cigarette flip scene in Ninaithale Inikkum

With passage of time –  life, status alters ! -   Owner's pride ~ neighbour's envy (long long ago !).  When I posted this pic a few years ago ! – many friends identified this to be Contessa -  from the stables of Hindustan Motors hit the roads from 1984 and was on sale till 2002 fading away !  - going by the logo this is not HM Contessa !!

Kings and queens, royalty or royal families, have been associated with luxury and sophistication, decadence and with the attitude the goes with making their own rules without caring about almost anything else.  A crown is a traditional and formal form of headwear, worn by monarchs as a symbol of their power. Crowns are mainly symbols of royalty, although they have become a symbol of authority, prestige or high class.

Introduced in 1955 as the Toyopet Crown, it  served as the mainstream sedan from Toyota in the Japanese market throughout its existence and holds the distinction of being one of the longest-running passenger-car nameplate affixed to any Toyota model.  The Toyota Crown  has been produced by Toyota in Japan since 1955. It is primarily a line of executive cars that is marketed as an upscale offering in the Toyota lineup.

The Kamal Rajni Jayapradha starrer ‘Ninaithale Inikkum’  was a big musical hit of our times with 14 songs ! – the movieline was an adoption of story written by our favourite writer - Sujatha Rangarajan. The film was also simultaneously shot in Telugu as Andamaina Anubhavam ( Beautiful experience). A large part of the film was shot in Singapore and later  dubbed in Hindi as Pyara Tarana.  That Cigarette flip scene involving a wager (was it Poornam Viswanathan !) by a millionaire challenging Rajni to flick a cigarette into his lips 10 times in a row without dropping – the prize being a Toyota car and fine being little finger ! – the otherwise confident Rajni slowly develops fear on seeing the medicines, cotton and scissors for cutting !!  .. .. that scene was inspired by story of Roald Dahl.

Interesting !
