Don't text unaware - negligent people talking and texting !!!

An advertisement of a tyre Company used to show ‘idiots on road’ and you need not travel any length to see them… you see them daily.. .. ..  people walking on the road talking on the mobile, not caring for the traffic and on-coming vehicles; those 2 wheeler riders bending their neck – keeping mobile between ear and shoulders and yet driving the vehicle; those at the steering wheel texting or speaking on phone…… most parents would find it offending when the school van driver speaks on mobile phone stating that it imperils their children who are inside the van; but the same parents would call the same driver to find his whereabouts asking him to wait for sometime, as their kids are getting readied and could possibly delay – all other users…. Fortunate that Indians are talkative and keep talking on the phone all the time ~ the drivers and others [generally speaking] are not given to the habit of texting ~ i.e., sending messages from the equipment when driving.  In foreign countries, things are somewhat different as most are inclined to text…. [while driving too]

Reportedly, in UK  ‘Professional drivers are the worst text offenders’ that people who drive for their job take more risks behind the wheel.   A survey  states that people who drive as part of their job are more likely to endanger lives by taking risks behind the wheel.  In the World of ‘flex-culture’, somewhere in San Francisco, they put the pictures on the hi-tech billboard in an attempt to publicly shame ‘Texters’ ….  Secret camera catches drivers who messaging at the wheel and projects them on a massive billboard.

People when they are on ‘texting mode’ are seemingly unaware of the people and environ around them and are in a World of their own – one often wonders, are people really happy, as one could make out from the faces when they are speaking or texting !!  - Here is an interesting instance of a photographer out on a whale watch captured the moment a humpback whale surfaced as a man sat on his sailboat oblivious to the sea mammal. The whale was just feet away from the man when the photo was taken in January, but all the man seemed to care about was his phone.  The photographer, Eric J. Smith, took five photos and in all of them the man was staring at his phone and never once looked at the humpback.

Daily Mail reports that - Whale watching is big business, with people travelling from all corners of the globe and shelling out $2.1billion in 2008 alone for the chance to head out to sea and hopefully get just a brief peek at these majestic creatures in their natural habitat. It would seem however that not all people are as excited by the chance to see a whale up close, as one man in Redondo Beach, California, was photographed by Eric J. Smith as he sat in a sailboat on a recent outing glued to his phone screen. This as just a few feet a way a humpback whale rose to the surface right next to the boat.

A man in Redondo Beach, California was more interested in his phone than a humpback whale surfacing just feet away a few weeks ago. 'A small private sailboat maneuvered really close to the whales, and this guy on it was literally sitting in that position and never moved,' Smith told ABC News.  'He could have been texting his mom in the hospital for all I know, but I thought it sucked that he missed such a wonderful moment happening just two feet in front of him.' It was not just the one photo either, as Smith, who is a professional photographer, says he managed to get five snaps, and the man did not once stop looking at his phone.

Humpbacks are one of the most impressive species of whale, migrating almost 20,000 miles a year and having been come back from the brink of extinction in the 1960s after their population declined by an astonishing 90% as they became a popular target for the whaling industry. They have been a protected species since 1966.

Away, in this beautiful World, people are addicted to technology and gadgets, there is one more – disorder – sleep-related one at that…… it is stated that daily stress is leading to a rise in the potential nightmare of 'sleep texting' !!! People with the rare condition send incoherent text messages while asleep to their friends and family - completely unaware that they are doing it.  So, how often – you text ?
