moksha deepam at Thiruvallikkeni # sidhi of Sri HH Pujyasri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal

Sri Adi Sankara was born at Kaladi on the fifth day of the bright fortnight of the Vaisaka month of the cyclic year Nandana in cyclic year Nandana - Kali 2593 corresponding to 509 B.C.  Sri Sankara Bhagavadpadacharya was one of the greatest philosophers and spiritualists of the world.

The 69th  Acharya of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam Jagadguru Pujyashri Jayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya Swamigal attained Siddhi on - Shukla Trayodashi - 28 Feb. 2018 at Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam Sankara Matam, Kanchipuram. A large number of people from different walks of life from leaders to common-man offered their prayers to His Holiness. Devotees stood in long queues outside Shrimatam and awaited their turn for Darshan all through the day and night till early the next morning. Volunteers offered anna prasadam and water to the devotees round-the-clock. Sadhus and saints from across the country offered their tributes.

Jayendra Swami  was outspoken; involving thyself  in conversation with the world. Being more contemporary than traditional, Jayendra Saraswathi often tested the limits of orthodoxy and extended the areas of the Math’s reach and influence beyond its traditional adherents even as he explored areas of social thrust. He was instrumental in the Kanchi Math expanding directly into people’s service and not remaining merely a spiritual fountainhead as it was under the Mahaswami. Today, the Kanchi Math runs a deemed university and dozens of schools and hospitals — territories previously not in the reach of Math — besides over 50 traditional Vedic schools and temples. Jayendra broke the restraining rules of the Math and reached out to the downtrodden. He went to Harijan bastis and attracted thousands of new followers and devotees. He transformed a spiritual and ritualistic Math into a socially vibrant one. This brought him high popularity and also into interaction with a multitude of social and political leaders in the country. It had had its pluses and minuses.

Though Jayendra Saraswathi is no more ~ the pain inflicted on him has not  died with his devotees.  Sri Jayendra Saraswathi’s sidhi has brought untold grief to millions of his followers.  SYMA would ever remember him for being instrumental in our medical service.  Kanchi Sankara Foundation with the blessings of Acharya forayed into medical service.  Dr K Sridhar, renowned Plastic surgeon, devoted to Mutt, was instrumental in opening of Medical centres under the aegis of KSF and he initiated SYMA to run a centre in 1989, supported in every possible measure and ensured its convenience.  Years later, when SYMA had grown and ready, the baton was passed on – for the Centre to be wholly run by SYMA and now more than the silver jubilee it is history.

Today Triplicanites remembered and grieved the passing  away of Acharya.  Around 6 pm, hundreds of devotees gathered infront of Sri Parthasarathi Swami temple, chanted Sri Vishnu sahasranamam, went around the temple and lit moksha dweepam in front of the temple.

Sri H Raja, National Executive of BJP, Sri Dolphin Sridhar, Sri Murugan, Hindu Munnani, Sri Vittal Narayanan, Sri KV Rangarajan of Triplicane Brahmin Welfare Association, Office bearers of Sri Thennacharya Sripadham thangigal sabhai and many other prominent people of Triplicane participated in this.
