Rupert Murdoch [84] marries Jerry Hall [59]

'I feel like the luckiest & happiest man in the world' the man who in 1993, acquired Star TV, a Hong Kong company founded by Richard Li for $1 billion said.

Keith Rupert Murdoch [1931) is an Australian-born American media proprietor. Murdoch became managing director of Australia's News Limited, inherited from his father Sir Keith Arthur Murdoch in 1952. He is the founder, chairman and CEO of global media holding company News Corporation, the world's second-largest media conglomerate, and its successors News Corp and 21st Century Fox after the conglomerate split in 2013.  In the 1950s and '60s, he acquired a number of newspapers in Australia and New Zealand, before expanding into the United Kingdom in 1969, taking over the News of the World followed closely by The Sun. His News Corporation acquired Twentieth Century Fox (1985), HarperCollins (1989)[14] and The Wall Street Journal (2007).

This big business tycoon is in news – not for the acquisitions ….but because of his marriage, yes at 84 as he married Jerry Hall, 59, who flashed her £2.4million engagement ring after a simple ceremony at an 18th century palace. The ceremony was reportedly witnessed by Mr Murdoch's son Lachlan and one of Ms Hall's closest friends Suzanne Wyman.  The former supermodel, 59,  married tycoon Rupert Murdoch during a low key ceremony at Spencer House in London following a whirlwind five-month romance.

It  seems he shares his new wife's excitement - breaking from a flurry of political tweets posted both before and after the midday ceremony to announce a break from social media, posting: 'No more tweets for ten days or ever! Feel like the luckiest &  happiest man in world.' The union marks Mr Murdoch's fourth marriage - but is technically Ms Hall's first.   She and long-term partner Mick Jagger had an unofficial marriage ceremony in Bali in 1990 but it was deemed void after a high court battle following their split.

Until his jubilant announcement that he was 'the luckiest and happiest man in the world', observers of Mr Murdoch's Twitter account would have had little clue about his impending nuptials. He continued to tweet both before and after the ceremony about U.S. politics.    The marriage place, Spencer House was built between 1756-1766 for John, first Earl Spencer, an ancestor of Diana, Princess of Wales, and it is said to be London's finest surviving 18th-century town house.

According to The Sydney Morning Herald, the pair were eager to include all of their children in the ceremony on Saturday to start their new life as a blended family and reportedly  all of the couple's children six children from previous relationships were reported to be attending. However, the couple's former partners are not expected to attend the wedding.  The couple made their relationship public on October 31 when they were seen for the first time together at the Rugby World Cup final at Twickenham in London.

Before you say something, last year, Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh married TV anchor Amrita Rai in Chennai.   Singh was close to becoming a septuagenarian and Amrita was 44.
